- Salt your water until you can taste it
- Use at least 1 gallon of water for each package
- Pasta water is at a rapid boil before you add the pasta
- Begin timing the pasta after the water returns to a boil
- Linguine - 2-4 minutes
- Fettecuine - 5-7 minutes
- Shells - 6-8 minutes
- Rotini - 4-5 minutes
Do not over drain the pasta! Leave a little of the cooking water with the pasta so it does not stick together. You may also add butter and Extra Virgin Olive Oil at this point, which we recommend. If you would like a quick easy dish, a little Extra Virgin Olive Oil or butter seasoned with salt and pepper is all you need. For those of you more adventurous, check out some our numerous recipes or come up with your own!!!
You SEASON!!!! At DeCio Pasta, we do not add any salt to our products, that’s why they are very low in sodium. In order to bring out the true flavors of our product, you need to add salt and pepper once it has finished cooking. So, if it seems bland, add more salt. Even if you are on a low sodium diet, a little salt is necessary.
Pasta Cooking Instructions
- Bring large pot of water ( remember, 1 gallon for 1 package) to a ROLLING ( rapid) boil. Make sure water has been salted to taste. If you prefer, you may also add 1-2 tablespoons of Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
- Add pasta and wait until water comes back to a rapid boil, begin timing. Timing depends on the cut of pasta. (Listed above)
- Try the pasta as it cooks. Each individual has their own opinion about “al dente”. Some people like it mushy, some like it chewy. When it’s cooked to your liking, drain, but don’t over drain. Leave some of the cooking water in the pot and add your cooked, drained pasta back in, add butter, oil, or your own creative sauces. We do not recommend “par cooking” although you can. As far as we are concerned, cook your pasta right before you serve it for maximum results.
- Enjoy!
